A 3.7 magnitude earthquake shook southeast New Mexico today, though a smaller 2.5 magnitude tremor was also recorded south of Whites City. Carlsbad is experiencing pleasant partly cloudy conditions now at 88 degrees, but forecasters warn dangerously hot weather could push temperatures toward 108 degrees as western heat continues to build. Police are actively investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Carlsbad and seeking a person of interest in connection with the incident.
