BULLETIN
The Babylon Fire, the nation's second-largest wildfire, has now grown to over 87,000 acres and forced closure of the entire Monticello Ranger District and all federal lands south of Highway 211, with smoke expected to persist throughout the day and air quality at moderate levels. Despite the fire impacts, the area is still preparing for 4th of July celebrations with Shan and Mike Redd serving as Grand Marshals in the local parade. Monticello City Council has reaffirmed fireworks restrictions in light of current conditions while also addressing water and budget matters.
