Ouray is dealing with significant air quality issues today as smoke from the Gold Mountain Fire and other regional wildfires blankets the area, with the National Weather Service issuing multiple air quality alerts. The Gold Mountain Fire has grown to over 25,000 acres and prompted the Red Cross to reopen a shelter in Ridgway for evacuees.
